Nagüeles is where Marbella's transformation began. Founded in the 1960s by Manuel González—a bullfighter turned property developer—this was the first luxury villa suburb on the Costa del Sol. Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe, founder of the Marbella Club Hotel, and Princess Gunilla von Bismarck both chose to build their private estates here. The stone quarried from these hillsides built Puerto Banús.
Today, Nagüeles occupies the gently rising terrain between the coastal Golden Mile strip and Sierra Blanca above. The AP-7 highway bisected the neighbourhood in the 1990s, creating two distinct zones: the southern section retains some of Marbella's largest original plots, while the northern portion climbs toward La Concha mountain. Unlike its younger, flashier neighbours, Nagüeles is defined by mature gardens, established trees, and a sense of permanence that newer developments cannot replicate.
At €5,502/m², Nagüeles offers the lowest entry point on the Golden Mile—but entry point doesn't mean straightforward. The relationship between what sellers ask here and what buyers actually paid across the district creates room that prepared buyers know how to use.
