Where Marbella's Legend Was Written

Puente Romano and Las Lomas del Marbella Club form the historic heart of Marbella's Golden Mile. Puente Romano is a beachfront resort complex built around a 1st-century Roman bridge, featuring luxury apartments, the five-star Puente Romano Hotel, and over 20 restaurants including Nobu and Dani García's Leña. Las Lomas del Marbella Club is a 35-hectare gated estate on the hillside directly opposite, containing grand villas, royal residences, and eleven residential complexes. Together, they represent Marbella's most storied and supply-constrained address.

Lifestyle & Atmosphere

This is where the story begins. In 1947, Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe stopped for a picnic in a small fishing village and saw potential in a phylloxera-blighted vineyard. He bought the land for 150,000 pesetas and built the Marbella Club Hotel—transforming a quiet Andalusian coast into a playground for European aristocracy. In 1974, he commissioned architect Melvin Villarroel to design an apartment complex around an ancient Roman bridge that once connected Cádiz to Rome along the Via Augusta. That complex became Puente Romano.

Las Lomas del Marbella Club rises across the hillside directly opposite. Developed by Sierra Blanca SA in the 1970s, it houses some of the most significant private estates in Spain: Al Riyadh Palace spans 200,000 square metres as the summer residence of the Saudi royal family; the Wafic Saïd compound covers 100,000 square metres. Between these landmark estates sit eleven residential complexes—from the Andalusian village-style Las Lomas Pueblo to contemporary villa developments—all within a secured perimeter with three controlled access points.

At €7,513/m², this micro-area commands the highest asking prices on the Golden Mile. Properties here rarely reach the open market. When they do, the buyer pool is immediate and international. But scarcity doesn't eliminate the gap between asking and reality—it changes its character. The dynamics of how deals actually close here differ from anywhere else in Marbella.
